The surnames Cheverie, MacDonald and Rose are among the oldest in Eastern Kings. They continue today to be names that people in the area, associate with hard work. As with most, these three men had to adapt, to make a living. They were men of the land - of the soil, but also men of the sea. They could not afford to be exclusive, they had to diversify. There were many methods and practices used over the years.
