The Hon. John James Bowlen was born in 1876 at Cardigan but farmed briefly on the Souris Line Road, before moving to Boston, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and later Alberta. He had a large farm and later the largest horse ranch in Canada. When the demand for horses started to decline, he diversified into other agricultural pursuits. He was not successful running for Parliament but did serve in the Alberta Legislature. He received many awards and honours and was named Lieutenant-Governor in 1950, in Alberta, serving until his death in 1959. Mt. Bowlen in the Rocky Mountains is named for him. A descendant of his, Pat Bowlen, currently ownes the Denver Broncos of the National Football League.
Dr. Alphonsus P. Campbell was born on the Souris Line Road, near Harmony Junction in 1912. He served in the Canadian Army during World War II. He taught at St. Dunstan's University in Charlottetown, St. Thomas College in Chatham, N.B. and at the University of Ottawa where he was developed the Programme of Medieval Studies. He was an expert in Anglo Saxon, Medieval, Latin and paleography. He had published many articles and two volumes of poetry. He was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal in 1977. Dr. Campbell passed away in Ottawa in 1983.
Well known author Frank J. Ledwell's father was born here. Professor Frank was a Teacher, a Professor and was a prolific poet and writer. He was a Professor Emeuritis of Creative Writing and Literature at U.P.E.I. In the fall of 2004, he was named Poet Laureate of P.E.I. He published several outstanding books including Crowbush and other poems and The North Shore of Home. He resided at his passing at Springvale, P.E.I.

Elizabeth (MacDonald) McInnis passed away on the Souris Line Road on December 15, 1852. Later her family recorded her claim to fame on her headstone that she danced with King George IV at a Royal Ball in Edinburgh in 1818.
Madame Justice, the Hon. Ellen MacDonald of the Superior Court of Ontario was raised and received her education on Souris Line Road. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she was a well known lawyer in Toronto.
Alberta Member of the Legislature, Hugh F. MacDonald was raised here. After graduating from high school he was employed in the Alberta petroleum industry as a boilermaker and small business owner. He was elected first to the Alberta Legislative Assembly in 1997 for the district of Edmonton Goldbar. He resides in Edmonton.
