£5.00 was allotted by the House of Assembly in 1834 to cut down a steep hill on the new road between the Rollo Bay and Bay Fortune Bridges. £175 was allotted for the construction of a new bridge over the Fortune River.

The brigantine
Raven was built at Fortune Bridge in 1873 by Alex MacInnis. She was owned by James Duncan, Robert R. Hodgson and John F. Robertson of Charlottetown. On March 5, 1874, she was sold at Swansea in Wales.
A monument was erected at Fortune Bridge in 1929, to mark the site of the cemetery where the first French settlers in the Havre a la Fortune area were buried.
