| The Souris Girl Guides had a successful fundraising tea party on Saturday. Guides and Brownies served tea, coffee, juices and muffins to about 100 guests. The Souris Guides district started last fall after an absence of several years. Ten Guides and 15 Brownies make up the organization. Clarisse Gallant is no stranger to the organization. The 84 year-old Souris resident had 14 children involved with Guides and Scouts. “The children benefited from the program. They're all involved in their communities,” Mrs. Gallant said. Nellie Young was secretary for Local Association of Girl Guides and Brownies in Kingsboro from 1964-85. The 92 year-old was served tea by her eight year old great-granddaughter Patricia Leslie who is involved with Brownies. By Stella Shephard of the Eastern Graphic, published May 6, 1998.
