| The hometown Souris Regional High School Spartans before a huge crowd in Souris, defeated the St. Dunstan's High School Saints 41-13 to win the High School Football Championship, entitled the Potato Bowl in November, 1966. What is believed to be the biggest upset in Island High School sport history, occured in Montague in October 1970. Playing with only 13 players, the Souris Regional High School Spartans stunned the Colonel Grey Colonels with their full complement of 40 or more players in tackle football action 27-12. The last time Colonel Grey had lost a game was in 1967 and they had defeated the same Spartan team a week previously 50-7. On November 11, 1991 the Eastern Kings Wildcats won the Potato Bowl in their first ever season defeating the Charlottetown Colonels. Copyright Waldron H. Leard |
