Rose All hail to the Red Point Farmers boys Who gave the Maritimes quite a surprise, When they pulled the Blue Noses all over the place And focused the limelight upon their birthplace.Like disciples of old, they abandoned their all To answer as one man sports' clarion call, Now back, they catch up on their spuds and their grain, Rejoicing, their efforts were not in vain About 'sixty-two they started to train, Since then quite a few victories did gain, The so-called Souris Firemen beat a hasty retreat When even big Ronnie went down to defeat. St. Peter's did wilt as dew before the sun; They really were finished before they'd begun. Although Chings score in numbers, I sure like to think That duo of Roses made their foemen blink. We know the team's made up of husky young men, This is proved by their victories again and again. Although some are rotund and others are lank; They surely all pull like a Sherman tank. And now for a word for the geneial Coach: A team that he trains, no foeman can broach; He surely must feel like a father of ten To keep in strict line those exuberent men. When Stuart lines his boys on the end of the rope For the team on the other there is not much hope; To hold on or to pull, whichever seems best, Coach Stuart gives the counsel, the boys do the rest So keep up your practice, don't rest on your gains, But keep on a-pulling again and again, And who knows that next year, be it summer of fall You may win the Trophy for Canada all. - Livingston Rose was born in Lakeville in 1898. He was a farmer and an astute observer of community life. He passed away at his home in 1976.
