The first settlers to the area included MacAulay's, MacDonald's, MacEachern's and MacPhee's.
On May 21, 1838, Thomas Curtis master of the schooner Sarah stated that while riding anchor in three fathoms of water off Bull Creek, north side of P.E.I. taking in a cargo of grain and potatoes - seas began to rise, the cable broke and the vessel went ashore. The defendant, anxious to secure vessel and cargo, or as much of them as possible, appeared before Magistrate Alexander Leslie to enter his protest against sea and weather.
In 1888 a Mr. A. Gay operated a store and William Leslie operated a mill in the community.
